Just over a year ago we - Dennis, Sam, Max and Tom - launched Sylla, a new solution in the Higher Education space that connects open educational resources (OER) to the curriculum. For many universities, colleges, their libraries and academics making sure students have access to the educational resources they need to succeed is a highly complex problem.
We found that while there is increasingly free, high quality and open content available on the web, it is often not finding its way to those that can benefit from it the most: students.
Following initial success with Coventry University last year – helping their library, academics and students make the most of OER, realizing cost savings while expanding access to high quality classroom materials for students, we’ve since expanded this work to now partnering with over 20 universities & colleges worldwide.
The UK’s first mover: institution-wide OER adoption
We’re thrilled to now share our latest case study with Coventry University – demonstrating that Sylla works at scale, supporting Coventry in developing a sustainable model for learning resources. We’ve continued to make a real, lasting impact: realizing 250,000+ GBP in recurring savings and bringing OER into the classroom now benefitting 80% of all their undergraduates. Made possible thanks to the great work and commitment of the team at Coventry.
The next chapter
With clear proof, improved technology and above all – a wonderful and expanded team here at Sylla – we’re ready to help universities, colleges and libraries make a real impact, making sure their students benefit from OER and have access to the resources they need to succeed.
