Enhancing Open Educational Resource (OER) identification at Deakin University

Deakin University partnered with Sylla to test the latest tools and techniques to enhance OER identification. Together, we’ve experimented and looked at how new tools could support Deakin in achieving its goals for open education.

As part of this collaboration we looked at several units, workflows & explored the potential for supporting Deakin’s growing open educational practice across its ~ 150 bachelor programmes and 1,500+ units.

Key highlights from this case study:

  • Streamline collaboration: Connecting library and faculty around OER identification and their local potential and relevance
  • Time savings: Using Sylla resulted in a 54% time saving for finding and assessing OER - with room for improvement still
  • Accelerate to an OER future: validated workflows, processes & potential to integrate in the wider Deakin ecosystem
